Easter Weekend

Our Easter weekend was packed! Between friends, family, cookouts, celebrations... we stayed very busy. First and foremost, we spent the weekend celebrating the resurrection of our Lord and Savior. What an indescribable gift Christ gave to us! Not only did He die for us, He conquered death, rose from the grave, all so that we could spend eternity with Him! What sacrifice, what mercy, what love!

My parents, bro, and his girlfriend, Kayla came to visit us on Saturday. We had a cookout to celebrate Easter, Ava's 4 month birthday and my dad's upcoming birthday. We had a great time with all of you and can't wait for you to come back soon! Here is a picture of Oma relaxing with her girl. Hammocks and sunshine make for wonderful naps.

My brother, Ryan, was a great help to us this past weekend. He brought his chain saw and took down 2 trees in our yard for us. He also spent some quality time with our under-appreciated pup. Fergie misses you Ryan... Oh yeah, we do too! :) Not sure if you can see Fergie's face in this picture or not, but she looks kind of possessed. Perhaps she is just so excited that someone is paying attention to her that "possessed" is the only facial expression she can muster up.

Easter Sunday was spent at our awesome church, Lawndale. Our Life Journey Group (Sunday School Class) has some of the best teachers around. We enjoyed a great lesson about the true meaning of Easter. After church we headed to Tim and Kathy's house (Matt's uncle and aunt) for lunch. Tim and Kathy are always very gracious to open up their home to a number of friends and family for special lunches and dinners. Thanks guys, for having us! And thanks to the many hands that held Ava so Matt and I could eat! :)

Here is our little goober in her Easter dress. Don't you just love that scrunched up nose?

After lunch, we took some family photos outside. It is a rare occasion when we all look fairly decent and spit-up free!

One of Ava's favorite things to do... airplane! What kid doesn't love that? I haven't thrown her so far in the air yet that she comes out of my hands, but she loves floating up and down at an appropriate '4 month old' pace.

Every year, I get so excited when I see our tulips start poking their way out of the ground. I love them! They are beautiful and they require zero maintenance. My kind of flowers.

Ava put on her "serious observation" face and spent some time admiring God's creations.

Ava's love for the outdoors continues! During the day, she and I spend a lot of time in this rocking chair on our front porch. Since Matt was home with us Sunday afternoon, he took some time to relax and enjoy sitting with his daughter.

Sunday evening, we went over to spend some more outdoor time with our friends, Marc, Lauren and Tucker. Ava had a great time watching Tucker, Marc and Matt run around the yard while Lauren and I, well, talked the whole time! :) Check out Ava's new hat. She's as ready for the beach as I am!! Do I dare mention that my 4 month old daughter fits perfectly in that 12 month old outfit she is wearing? Good grief!

Best Buds. Thanks Tucker for being so sweet to Ava and sharing your toys with her. You're going to be the best big brother come the end of May!! :)
